Having an estate plan is important for several reasons. It helps you avoid conflicts with your loved ones by clarifying your wishes. Your family can rest assured that your assets will be distributed according to your wishes, not Oregon's equal shares.
An estate plan is especially important for children with special needs, rewarding caregivers, caring for a minor child, addressing the complexities of subsequent marriages, and supporting unmarried couples. It also lets you avoid probate, control your legacy, and save taxes. Contact us today to create your personalized estate plan.
Wills are the oldest and most traditional way to prepare for your property's disposition upon your passing. To be effective, the will must be properly executed during your lifetime and submitted to probate upon your passing. Ensuring your will is correctly executed can safeguard your legacy and provide peace of mind for your loved ones. Schedule a consultation with us to create a will that reflects your wishes accurately.

Raylynna Peterson is the founding and managing member of Peterson Law Group, established in 2005. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 1990 and obtained her law degree from Whittier College School of Law in 1996. After being admitted to the California Bar in early 1997, Raylynna began working at the Orange County Public Defender's Office and the Public Law Center in Santa Ana, California. In the fall of 1998, Raylynna opened her first law office in Laguna Beach, California, and began handling a variety of civil matters, including estate planning, adoption, personal injury, real estate, and business law.
Raylynna returned to Oregon in the fall of 2000, just before the birth of her first daughter. Following maternity leave, she worked for the insurance defense firm of Mitchell, Lang & Smith as a paralegal and then an attorney after being admitted to the Oregon Bar in 2002.
In September 2005, Raylynna left Mitchell, Lang, & Smith to re-establish her own practice and opened a law office in North Portland. Uniquely situated near Emanuel Hospital and the Rose Quarter, Raylynna and her associates have been successfully assisting clients in the Portland community ever since.
There are less formal ways to implement an estate plan, such as using payable-on-death accounts or joint ownership arrangements. These methods can simplify the transfer of assets and avoid the complexities of probate.

Our Consultation Fee is $395 for one hour.
However, we will typically credit the fee you pay for your initial consultation to the cost of your Complete Estate Plan package if you retain us after the consultation.
Our Flat Fees for Complete Estate Plans are as follows:
Our Hourly Rates are $395 per hour for Attorney and $125 per hour for Paralegal services.
We typically represent clients on a flat fee basis. Occasionally, we accept representation on a hourly fee/retainer basis for limited matters, including probate, LLC formation and real estate transactions. If we represent you on an hourly fee matter, you will be required to maintain a replenishing retainer.
A replenishing retainer means you pay an initial retainerdeposit, usually between $3,000 and $5,000, depending on your case, and each month we bill against the retainer. At the end of each month, you will receive an invoice that shows how much was billed and the amount left in your retainer. At that point, we ask that you pay each invoice to replenish the retainer back to its original amount so that we always have the initial retainer deposit in our client trust account. After representation ends, the remaining balance of your retainer will be refunded to you with a final accounting.
